Self-Love? or the Path to Self-Discovery? [Visual DNA]

I discovered YET ANOTHER quiz on my friend Rola's site
[See hand writings: sensitive scripter].

What is it with all these quizzes and surveys that we find them so irresistable? Are we really so hung up on ourselves, and our own opinions? I hope not. But they do seem to appeal to the very nature of the avid blogger: the need to share something of themselves. It's a civilized form of exhibitionism (if you'll pardon the term). There is in every human the innate need to "be known". We want others to know the "real" person inside.

But who is this person? Who is the "true me" that lurks beneath our skin? How well do we really know ourselves?

Deep questions... I think I'll just indulge myself in digitally pre-programmed tools of self-discovery methods for now.

Unbelievable!

People always comment that I look like Jojo. I usually make a joke that this is an obvious indication of my narcissistic tendencies. But my looking like Bono is just too much ... a screaming double whammy. Ouch!

Rockin' Love

"True religion will not let us fall asleep in the comfort of our freedom. "Love thy neighbor' is not a piece of advise; it's a command!"

"This is not a burden. This is an adventure! ... We can be the generation that ends extreme poverty."

-- Bono

[Acceptance "Preach" at the NAACP* Awards Night last March 2, 2007 where he received the Chairman's Award for his The One Campaign" to Make Poverty History.

Jojo and the kids laugh, smirk, exasperatedly tolerate my preoccupation [bordering on obsession] with this rock idol. Twenty-four years after I bought my first U2 album [I did once burn my sacred collection of LP's and mtv's of this 80's rock band as a declaration of my then newfound allegiance to my Lord, Jesus Christ], I find that the former attraction has turned to inspiration. Whether you agree with this or vehmently retch at the idea, I dare you to watch and see the Passion, Energetic Pursuit, and Deep Sense of mission...

[Video Tribute to Bono given previous to the speech]

All I really wanted to say was, I hope we can all be infected with that "virus" for our own mission.

Crazy Love

Mark 3:21 "He is out of his mind."

The reason [Jesus] was out of his mind, the reason people thought he was insane is crazy love. Because in the end, when he knew his action to heal would result in his death, he did it anyway. Because it is always right to do good. It is always right to save a life when you can.

If I can do something to make someone’s life better, I’m gonna do it…help the shriveled hand, I’m gonna heal it…If I can bring compassion or mercy, bring love, forgiveness, acceptance. If there’s anything I can do to save life, that’s what I’m gonna do.

-- Erwin McManus

Better known as the author of "The Barbarian Way", Erwin McManus has become a source of "fight" in our faith. Jojo had the privelege of meeting and chatting with him in LA last year, then being introduced to the staff of Mosaic. We believe that the Church has indeed stepped up into a new realm in its effort to becoming a light in the darkness. "A-Musing" : The Real BossaNova

Bossa Nova As It Was
There's a glut in the music industry nowadays... a bossa glut. Some sectors opine that the phenomena has threatened to depreciate the allure of this Brazillian genre created by "Antônio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes and João Gilberto ...first introduced in Brazil in 1958". Admittedly, no one does it quite like the originators...

Genius in a Name: Gilberto
João Gilberto (born João Gilberto Prado Pereira de Oliveira on June 10, 1931 in the town of Juazeiro, Bahia) is a Brazilian musician and considered one of the creators, with Tom Jobim (Antonio Carlos Jobim) and Vinicius de Moraes, of bossa nova. Astrud Gilberto was born Astrud Weinert the daughter of a Brazilian mother and a German father in the state of Bahia, and grew up in Rio de Janeiro. Astrud married João Gilberto in 1959, and they emigrated to the United States in 1963, when she performed on the influential Getz/Gilberto album with João Gilberto, Stan Getz and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Astrud had never performed professionally before, and joined the recordings by insistence of João Gilberto. In the mid-1960s the couple divorced. Bebel Gilberto (born Isabel Gilberto on May 12, 1966 in New York City) is a Brazilian popular singer often associated with bossa nova. She is the daughter of João Gilberto and singer Miúcha.

I thought this might be an easier way to send you our newsletter. Gmail and Yahoo were getting too clogged up with the size of the document. I'd like to thank Ronna for the layout she designed for us. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. Thank you for all the seed you have sown in this beautiful land called Penang!
