Sunsets

It's mystifying that each day ends with a sunset, the visual tail of an ongoing spiral of time.  And although we do expect to see that same view the next day, each dusk brings a nostalgia.  “Love makes us poets, and the approach of death makes us philosophers.”  And what is sunset, but the death of a day... the passing of time we will not encounter again.

My condolences to our dear friend, Bong Mabilog, who lost his father last night.   Please pray for him and his family, as they recently lost his wife's mother and are currently battling Biko's cancer.

  1. Though sunsets are a death of sorts, it brings along a promise that a new day will come. For how can the sun rise without it setting first? I miss you, ids!

  2. Another journey comes to an end and somewhere there is a new beginning. Lots of changes there for you, Ida. {{{HUGS}}} I remembered DH once told me how most of us expect the sun to set and rises again the next day, taking it for granted that it will rise for 'US". We close our eyes to sleep at night expecting to see a new day but we never think we might not. So everyday now, I thank God for what is given to me today and pray I will have a beautiful day tomorrow. This I wish for you, my friend. :)

  5. Yes, thank you for that confirming word! That was the same conversation we had with Jojo when pondering the end of this season. I will be blogging soon about the new "baby" we have, our new EN center.

PS The quote about love and poets is by George Santayana, the rest is mine c,")
